Clay Hayes

Clay Hayes has been building and hunting with handmade, natural material longbows and recurves for nearly 20 years. His love of traditional archery and woodsmenship is matched only by his desire to be close to, and learn from, nature. Building and hunting with wood bows allows him to be intimately involved in every aspect of this pursuit and forces him to be the best hunter and archer he can be.

Since uploading his first few bow building videos on YouTube in 2008, Clay has taught thousands of beginning bowyers the art of bow making. Building a finely crafted hunting bow is one thing. Teaching someone the nuances of bow building is quite another. Through hundreds of bows, his online presence, and teaching in person classes, Clay has perfected not only the art of bow making, but of teaching the craft as well.
